Our MSc courses attracts graduate students from areas beyond engineering, including environmental sciences, geography and architecture. We offer our MSc courses on a full-time (one year) or part-time (two years) basis, to best suit your personal needs. We receive applications from students through out the world and our classes are typically a diverse mix of Irish and international students.

The Department of Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering plays a key role in the School of Engineering, and Civil Engineering has been taught at the University since 1841. In the Department, we have decades of experience in offering postgraduate courses. Our MSc courses have received nominations for Postgrad Ireland Best New Course in 2013, Postgrad Ireland Best Engineering Course in 2015, and Education Award at Irish Logistics and Transport Awards in 2017.
Our comprehensive modules offer you a broad selection of specialist modules that allows you to focus on one of four distinctive streams, while also offering you the opportunity to take a limited number of modules from other specialist courses. Teaching methods include formal lectures, seminars, group design projects, and site visits. A major dissertation in the final stage of your MSc will require you to undertake Research in your specialist theme and this will help you develop your skills in reviewing literature and developing a project from concept to delivery.
