Overview

Overview

Visual artist and Botanical art teacher Mary Dillon (https://marydillonbotanicalart.com/biography/) will be running a two-day practical course in botanical drawing and watercolour illustration based in the Trinity Botanic Gardens at Dartry, Dublin 6 (nearest Luas Station, Milltown). Mary is a member and founding chairperson of the Irish Society of Botanical Artists and exhibits regularly in Ireland. Mary’s work has been exhibited internationally, most recently in Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria, the UK and the US. Her work was selected for the 16 th International Exhibition of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Art and Documentation, Pittsburgh.

In this course, and following previous years’ very successful model, all abilities will be catered for, as each participant will receive individual tuition. A botanical drawing session occupies the first part of day one and participants produce preparatory drawings to work from in the watercolour course in the afternoon and day two. Plants are sourced in the extensive gardens and glass houses on site and all drawings are done from life.
