The building was built circa 1978. The building comprises of 2 storeys referred to as Ground floor and basement. The basement where the main gallery is located is served by a main central staircase and is therefore inaccessible to wheelchair users.
Accessible ground floor due to level access at entrance. Disabled access to the main gallery which is located in the basement is facilitated through the Arts Building which has a passenger lift. It is then possible to enter the main gallery through an emergency exit opening into the arts block on level 1
The building comprises of offices, reception and a balcony gallery on the ground floor and the main gallery and a smaller gallery in the basement.
