Building description

The building was constructed originally circa early 1760s within the west grounds of the college. The building comprises 3-storey stone construction and large basement area, during the buildings' life it has been converted in parts for accommodating the Trinity College Board of Directors Meeting Room and an admin office.

A link corridor has been constructed from the main square of the college that is accessed through House 1 College building north of the Provost's House; this link corridor is currently inaccessible to wheelchairs due to the steps in 4 locations along the corridor's route.

An alternative wheelchair access route to the House is possible through the main front door to the west elevation; this route requires visitors to access the front courtyard from Grafton Main Street gates either by wheelchair or a vehicle that could be parked in the west yard area.

A portable wheelchair ramp is available to gain access through the main front doors centrally into the main part of the house, this gives access to the ground floor Provost's main office, entrance hall, Drawing Room, Andrews Room, Dining Room and Yates room, but due to stairs and steps not the Board room, Upper Saloon Room and any toilets.

A main staircase for general access is provided centrally in the building and a secondary stone staircase to the south side of the building serving as a fire escape and staff access to all floor levels.

The Main House is open (by appointment only) to host guided tours to invited guests, during these tours access for wheelchair users is restricted to the rooms and areas noted above at ground floor level. The existing WC rooms are not accessible.
