The Trinity Disability Service in partnership with Trinity Careers presents our first ‘Employability: Disability Inclusion Pathway’ programme available to incoming first years and all current students registered with the Disability Service. This programme was developed to support students with disabilities to develop the employability skills necessary for career readiness and transition to the workplace.
Similar to the very popular Employability Awards offered each year by the Careers Service, the Disability Inclusion Pathway (or E-DIP) will follow a three-tier pathway – Level 1, Level 2, & Level 3.
Level 1 - This level will focus on foundational skills development and opportunities for students to gain an understanding of the Trinity Graduate Attributes and how they can implement them effectively. Activity within this level will include 1 skills-based workshop, 1 career readiness workshop, and 10 hours of volunteer work with the Trinity Ability Co-op.
Level 2 - This level will focus on deeper practice of skills learning and opportunities for students to demonstrate and reflect on their competencies. Activity within this level will include access to the Development & Engagement drop-in, CV review clinic, and a reflective exercise.
Level 3 - This level will focus on challenging the students and giving them the opportunity to apply the skills they have developed through their participation in the Award in a competitive setting. Activity within this level will include practice interviews and formal assessments, with the chance to compete for 2 internship positions (summer & graduate internships available) with the Disability Service.
If you have little to no experience in a workplace setting and are unsure of how you can prepare yourself for life post-education (or for a part-time job during your studies) as a student with a disability, this is the programme for you!
We want to ensure that every student is provided with equal opportunities whilst studying in Trinity College to prepare for the next chapter – working life! For some incoming students, this might seem a distance away, and for others, this might be just around the corner, but it is never too early or too late to begin thinking about this chapter of your life. Every bit of time you put aside to this aspect of your student life now could make a BIG difference to your CV and may be the difference between you and another applicant for a position further down the line. So, why not apply! (insert link)
There are 30 positions up for grabs and applications close on Monday 4th October at 5 pm. Click on the apply now tab or here to get your application in. You won’t regret it!
Applications for the Trinity Employability Award open on 20th September 2021. Visit the Careers Service website for information on how to apply.
