Trinity College Dublin’s Head of Sport and Recreation, Michelle Tanner, was recently elected President of the European Network of Academic Sports Services (ENAS) at the 16th Annual Conference held in Ireland. Michelle is the first Irish representative as well as the first woman to hold the ENAS Presidency.
This is the second ENAS achievement for Trinity College in the past year with the Sports Department’s ‘Trinity Olympians Project’ winning the 2012 ENAS Award, recognising an event or topic that is campus wide and engages students, staff and the wider College community.
ENAS, founded in 1997, is a non-governmental networking association of 105 member institutions from 21 countries in Europe. The association works alongside key partners to provide opportunities for its members to share experiences and good practice to assist in their development. Michelle will be working with an Executive Committee team to promote and develop sport for all in Higher Education across Europe and encourage communication and mobility between member sports services.

‘I look forward to leading the excellent work of ENAS to inspire members, to improve their sports services and facilities, so together we can make a difference to the lives of students, staff and the communities we serve” said Michelle on receiving the award. “Sport matters and it positively impacts on the strategic mission of our Colleges and Universities.’
