Trinity cyclists raise over €15,700 for postgraduate hardship fund

Posted on: 30 September 2019

Over €15,700 has been raised to date for Trinity’s Postgraduate Hardship Fund by staff and students participating in yesterday’s Great Dublin Bike Ride.

More than 60 people on the ‘Trinity on the Move’ Team – including the Provost, Dean of Graduate Studies, the Senior Tutor, the Dean of Development, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the former Dean of Health Sciences and five Heads of Schools – cycled either 60km or 100km around Dublin.

Speaking about the success of the fundraising event, the Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof Neville Cox especially thanked colleagues Mary McCarron, Gerard McHugh and Michelle Tanner who have been the energy behind this campaign, as well as Trinity Sport, Healthy Trinity, Trinity Cycling Club and so many other college units for getting involved.

“I know our students really appreciate the level of solidarity that is being shown.  It is such a brilliantly collegiate effort, and this vital fund that helps students in horrendous circumstances is going to benefit inestimably,” Neville commented.

A gathering after the cycle took place in the Pav for participants and postgraduate students, giving our new and international students an opportunity to make friends.  The Walkeleles, a ukulele band, provided live entertainment for the crowd.

It is not too late to contribute to this worthy cause – please see here https://www.gofundme.com/f/trinity-on-the-move
