To protect personnel and to fulfil the legal obligation, the University must identify risks and take appropriate actions to eliminate or control these risks both optical and non-optical ensuring that work with lasers is carried out safely. To this end the three lines of defence are implemented; engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protection. It is the duty of every member of the college to implement the safety protocols when working with hazardous laser systems. Here you will find resources to help you work with laser systems safely. If you are required to work with, or in the vicinity of lasers in the University of Dublin Trinity College, you must become a registered laser user.
You must attend the Laser safety workshop and complete the online safety assessment.
You can self enrol by locating the Laser Safety module in 'My Module List' top right hand corner, use the search function just type the words 'laser safety'. Please refer to Training and Registration for more details.
